6-Ball Rules E-mail
Thursday, 06 March 2008 16:11

The Six-ball is a variation of 9-Ball

The Table
Pocket billiard table (6 pockets)

The Balls
6 object balls numbered 1-6, plus the cue ball.

Start of Game
The balls are set in a diamond shaped rack. The one-ball is set on the apex of the triangle and the six-ball in the center of the last row.

An "Open Break", or a pocketed ball, is required for a legal break. Failure to do at least one of these is a foul and gives incoming player option to accept the balls as they are and putting cue ball into play from the kitchen, or breaking a fresh rack himself.

Game's Objective
To legally score the six ball

The Fouls
The cue-ball's first contact must be with the lowest numbered ball on the table.
Three consecutive fouls by a player is loss of game for that player.

Winning the Game
A player wins in nine ball when he pockets the six ball at any time in the game in a legal manner, either by hitting it in with the cue ball or with a lower numbered ball in a 'combination shot'
